Charlesmark Hotel

The room was great, and the location worked perfectly for us. We arrived late on Christmas Eve, and Lilly made the whole check-in feel easy. She was warm, walked us through everything, and shared helpful details about the area. She even suggested their sister hotel for future business trips. Service like hers is hard to come by, and it’s why I’d stay here again. We’ll definitely be back.

We were welcomed so warmly by Lillie, and the location couldn’t have been better. The room was very small, though clean and fair for the price. What brought it down to four stars was how much sound carried from the neighboring room. I could hear people moving around until 2 AM, and the water pressure was disappointing too.

Cafe Landwer downstairs is worth a stop for its excellent hummus and pita. The hotel itself is charming, with friendly staff, and it’s in a much-sought-after part of Back Bay. The room is extremely tiny, with nowhere to hang clothes and no desk, so you have to get used to those limits. Once you do, the stay can be quite enjoyable.

We were asleep when another guest knocked on our door around midnight and accused us of making a lot of noise. About 20 minutes later, the front desk came by, said they’d had multiple noise complaints about our room, accused us of smoking marijuana, and told us we were being kicked out and the police were being called. They made us leave in the middle of the night without evidence that we’d done anything. We were sleeping. We’ll be seeking a full reimbursement. The rooms are tiny, the amenities aren’t great, and the whole hotel felt weird. We found a much nicer room down the street at the Marriott.
