The Chester Hotel

One thing to know before booking: getting to the 3rd Floor Room meant tackling a lot of steep stairs. They did offer us a room on the first floor, and I think the stairs should be disclosed before a stay. Apart from that, no complaints, and I’d definitely return and recommend The Chester. The service was superb. When we had a small plumbing issue, with no water in the toilet tank, a plumber arrived within 15 minutes. We stayed Dec 26-28th. The rooms were huge, comfortable, and beautifully decorated, like a page from Architectual Design Magazine. I also loved the thick facecloths and towels. This hotel is a hidden jem.

The rooms were comfortable, and the location made it easy to get to the top restaurants, just minutes away. I had an amazing stay at Chester in Boston and would definitely come back.

The apartment gave us so much more room than other Boston hotels, and it felt like a great value. I loved the luxurious finishes, super comfortable bed, and lush towels and bath products. The neighborhood was really cute too. The Chester was a perfect home base for the week, and I’ll 100% stay here again on my next work trip!

For 1700 USD for 2 nights, this was not an experience I’d recommend. We booked through VRBO, but it felt more like an adventure than a hotel stay. Arriving late, we had to get past about 20 people partying outside the building. The stairs to the 4th floor leaned to the left, which made hauling heavy suitcases a challenge. We booked for three, but there was no bedding for the pull out couch. When I asked for help, I was sent on another adventure through the hallways to find a closet with bedding. In the room, the shower had almost no pressure, so you had to chase little sprinkles of water. There were hardly any wall plugs for charging, and the bed lights didn’t work. It felt like a house turned into a hotel-ish stay by someone more focused on olive green wallpaint and copper accents than making the room practical. If you’re after an adventure, maybe this is for you.
