Hyatt Place Boulder/Pearl Street

The building is nice and breakfast was excellent, but checkout left us with a terrible impression. Parking is self-paid and can be a bit of a walk from the entrance. Check-in had started well: the guy there was awesome and gave us the service I’d expect from Hyatt. Then, at 6:45 AM on Monday, while we were rushing to get breakfast and head to the Denver airport, the front desk agent became confrontational. When I handed over the keys, he was mildly annoyed that I hadn’t given him the room number first. I checked that we were all set, and he said my card had been “declined.” I explained that the stay had already been paid for through SkyMiles. Instead of trying to sort it out, he lectured me and started Googling Hyatt policies to “prove” they didn’t take miles rather than looking at the reservation in front of him. I told him I had a confirmed booking and didn’t care what he found on his computer. When I asked for a manager, he told me to “come back at 10:00 AM,” even though I was checking out and leaving for the airport. We choose Hyatt for a reason, so this was a massive letdown. That agent needed to de-escalate and help a guest in a rush, not try to “educate” me. The building and check-in team were great, but the Monday morning staff need serious training in how to speak with customers.

I was displaced for five nights during the local fire prevention power outage. I booked through Bookings and chose to pay online, not at the property. At check-in, the employee insisted I still had to pay, even after I explained I’d already paid. I’d been offered a place to stay with a friend after booking, so I asked if I could cancel without being charged. He said yes. I was still charged through Bookings, so staying would have meant paying twice. I contacted Bookings, but Hyatt denied my refund. I’ve emailed Hyatt at this location a few times and haven’t heard back. A few days after staying with my friend, I ended up staying at the hotel. I was told garage parking would be free, but later received a bill in the mail. Hyatt said by email they’d void it, yet weeks later another parking notice arrived, so it still hadn’t been taken care of. There were also many homeless people around the hotel. A man was sleeping on the ground in a garage parking space, and others were roaming around at night, which felt unsafe.

Yvonne Rodriguez helped us plan four full days of meetings and events over several months, and she kept everything organized and running smoothly. She was responsive, thought ahead, and handled the details so well. The rest of the team were professional and ready to help too, which made our events a success. Hyatt Place Boulder was a great setting for it all. The rooms were clean and comfortable, the amenities were good, and the event spaces worked really well for meetings and gatherings. The hotel felt welcoming and well maintained. Highly recommend.

Matt and Jesse made the stay for us. Matt was such a joy to talk to, professional, accommodating, and just wonderful, and Jesse was sweet and helpful too. What a pair. Our room was perfect, the temperature was just right, and the atmosphere was lovely. A five-star stay thanks to them. We had a really delightful time at the Hyatt here in Boulder.
