The three people at the front desk were so helpful and nice, and the hotel is in a very convenient spot. But the room smelled kind of like dog, and the carpet was dirty. I know pets are welcome, so that may not be something they can really control. Breakfast was my biggest complaint. It’s served 7-10 on Saturday, and we waited around from about 9:15 for more than 20 minutes in case we’d arrived at an unlucky moment. The waffle batter was nearly gone, toppings looked old and questionable, and empty food choices weren’t being refilled. Only one juice dispenser worked, the yogurt machine was broken, and the juice jug in the fridge had a clearance sticker and a 6/3 expiration date even though it was 6/6. We had to ask for scrambled eggs after 15 minutes, all the trash cans were overflowing, and the tea hot water had black flecks in it. It was gross. The owner or manager came in with supplies and stayed a bit but didn’t seem to notice or care, so I wondered if this was normal. There was a big soccer event in town at BGSU that weekend, and they could presumably see the reservations. Being so unprepared, whether with supplies or staffing, was unacceptable and embarrassing for Hilton. I have pictures and will post them here if I can.

The rooms are comfortable and nicely equipped, but the place feels like a newer hotel, maybe 5-10 years old, that hasn’t had maintenance since it opened. The carpets are stained and the shared areas are dirty. I like the concept and wanted to like this hotel, but it missed the mark for me.

We had a quiet room, a comfortable bed, and the air conditioning worked fine. Our fifth-floor corner King Suite was spacious and modern, with a microwave, big fridge, dishes, and dishwasher. The bathroom could be entered from either the living room or bedroom. We only stayed one night, but it seemed well set up for a longer visit. Breakfast was acceptable, though the choices were limited compared with a Hampton. There aren’t many tables in the lobby eating area, but there is bar-style seating.

The digital key made contact-free check-in and checkout easy, and the location suited our visit. We stayed in a king one-bedroom suite and didn’t use the pool or gym. The room was generally clean, but the towels and washcloths had visible stains and seemed due for replacement. A lamp was broken, the sink drained slowly, and the kitchen appliances were somewhat hard to use because they weren’t set to English. Breakfast was disappointing: moldy bananas and oranges, very hard muffins, a moldy bagel, and a single bottle of chocolate milk with a punctured seal. We left most of it uneaten and skipped breakfast the next day. After snow overnight, the sidewalks and parking lot were still icy when we left around 10 a.m. Walking was difficult, especially for children and disabled people, and using a cane and luggage cart was challenging. The cart slid away several times while we tried to load the car. Those safety issues, along with the room details and breakfast, affected the stay.

The room was clean, though it had a smell we couldn’t identify. I thought it was body odor, while my husband thought it smelled like sewage. We only noticed it for the first few minutes after entering. Breakfast was the real problem. Tables were dirty, food wasn’t stocked, and most things looked dried out. A bagel was rock hard, then an English muffin I picked had mold all over it, so after that I was afraid to eat anything. The juice glasses were filthy, too. Very disappointing. The front desk guy could have helped wipe tables and restock, but he was too busy on his phone. We won’t be back, there are plenty of other places nearby.
