Sleep Inn Bowling Green

We arrived in December 2013 on our first trip from Texas to Michigan, and this has become our regular stop. The hotel is owned by an American Veteran, and as a military family we got a really good rate and a huge discount. We expected just a bed and TV, but were given a Jacuzzi suite. It was very clean and spacious, almost like staying at a Marriott. They welcome pets and don't charge ridiculous pet fees. If you're in the area, we definitely recommend staying here.

The hotel itself was very clean, comfortable, and updated, and I wouldn't let one bad interaction put someone off staying here. But check in felt sour because the front desk attendant was rude and didn't seem personable. He looked bothered by the guests waiting and pointed instead of talking to us. At the end we had to ask if we were all set, and he said we were free to go. He didn't tell us where our room was or wish us a good stay. I hope he added my bonus points as an elite Choice Hotels member, since he never even asked about them.

The beds and bathrooms were clean, but the rest of the hotel needed attention. Some of the stained carpeting may have been tied to the renovations underway and might be fixed once they're done. The pool water quality and the horrendously stale breakfast food have nothing to do with renovations, though.

The room was very clean, and they cleaned it again each day while we were out. Breakfast was okay, though a little cold. I wished they had waffles. I liked my stay, but I'm giving four stars because a new pack of cigarettes disappeared from the room while we went downstairs for breakfast. My boyfriend ran back up to get them, and when he asked, the housekeeper said she hadn't been in the room. But the bed was already stripped, so someone had been there. I told the front desk lady, and she didn't seem to care, just gave me an “oh well” kind of response.
