Super 8 by Wyndham Branson / Shepherd of the Hills Exwy

The breakfast was hot, but it was absolutely disgusting. The biscuits weren’t fully cooked, and the owner insisted guests eat in the dining area instead of taking food back to the room we paid for. When we said our service dog was waiting in the room, she told us service dogs don’t leave the person they serve. We explained we’d left him there so we could get breakfast. She finally let us return with it, but she was rude and unprofessional. The room was awful too. The bathtub was disgusting and wouldn’t drain, so we couldn’t shower. The lights and heater didn’t work, and it was 15 degrees outside and in the room. The lampshades were falling apart, and the blow dryer had no power cord. When I told the front desk guy our power wasn’t working, he came down and was very rude. My fiancé booked a king room on super+.com, but when we arrived and told them we had a service dog with papers, they refused us that room. They moved us to a double queen at a lower rate but gave no refund. If you can afford to stay somewhere else, don’t use this hotel. It’s the worst one in Branson.

The parking lot is tight and one-way around the building. We drive an XL Yukon, and arriving late made finding a spot tricky. The angled spaces in front of the rooms would have been hard to use, so we had to hope for an open spot in the back. The motel isn’t the newest, but it did the job for our two nights. The staff were courteous, and breakfast had biscuits and gravy, sausage links, eggs, cereal, toast, bagels, muffins, juice, and coffee. The attendant kept it stocked, and we never waited long when something ran out. We liked having hard floors instead of carpet because they seemed cleaner and easier to keep tidy. The beds were firm, which was fine, but the metal frames made a lot of noise whenever we got in or out or shifted around. We thought the shower was broken because the old tub switch didn’t turn it on, so we took baths the whole stay. At checkout, the front desk explained that you have to pull a piece under the faucet. It wasn’t obvious, and he apologized and showed us a sample faucet. They should explain that at check-in or post instructions in the bathroom. We weren’t too impressed overall, but it worked as a place to sleep.

I’m in Branson often and keep choosing this hotel. The rooms are clean, staff are friendly, and it’s reasonably priced. Breakfast is very good, with eggs, sausage, biscuits, gravy, and juice. Great value, and I’ll stay again.

I’m traveling for work and got a king room with a spa tub. It was a relaxing way to unwind after work, and the bed and pillows were really comfortable. The manager was so friendly at check-in. This is a great, low-key little place, away from the main drag and its traffic. I’d recommend it again and again.
