The Stone Castle Hotel & Conference Center

The towels were my one gripe. They felt really rough, almost like sandpaper, maybe from strong chemicals or too much washing. The rest of the place was very clean and smelled fresh, and the staff were so welcoming and friendly. We had a good time at both the pool and hot tub, and breakfast had lots of tasty choices. We had a wonderful stay and would come back.

Housekeeping did a great job, even picking up the popcorn my toddler dropped before I had a chance to get it. The pools were nice and spread across different buildings, and breakfast was a pretty good mix of hot and cold buffet items. The location was great, with easy access in and out and attractions nearby. Our group had two rooms in separate buildings, but staff managed to move one right across the hall.

I’d come back now that I know what to expect. The building is cool, it’s walkable, the water features and game room are nice, and breakfast buffet was good. The price was reasonable, and I didn’t see bed bugs or anything else some reviews mentioned. I slept well, too, which matters. I was in town for a show at Sight & Sound Theatre and booked one night in a Standard Single King Room after someone recommended the place. There weren’t many outlets, the floor beside the tub had a soft spot, and the shower made an uneasy creaking sound. The walls are thin, and the bare walls with no pictures looked odd. I’d call it about a 3.5, not bad but not stellar.

The location is good and the outside facilities look attractive, but the rooms fall short. The bathroom is painfully small, the sink wouldn’t drain until I pulled the plunger out, and there was noise from kids in the halls and rooms plus doorknobs rattling at night. A crookedly mounted outside light, lopsided curtains, and a blinking blue light on the smoke detector made it hard to sleep. The beds were fairly comfortable and the AC worked. The breakfast buffet was cold, though the selection was good, except there was no bacon.
