We left at 9:40 p.m. after finding black mold on the restroom ceiling and wall in room 120, then fleas in the bed in room 106. The room had no smoke alarm, which is a serious safety concern. The hotel refused to refund us until a night manager arrived at 11 p.m. They also said I couldn’t call about the refund because their phone wasn’t working. Seriously? I’d seen an earlier review mentioning black mold, and the elevator was reported broken four months ago. It was still out of order on 7/16/25. This doesn’t meet Motel 6 standards. I hope corporate gets us a refund and deals with these problems.

The bed and pillows were comfortable, and the A/C worked well. Front office staff were excellent, there was a pleasant area to walk my dog, and a gas station was within sight. Coffee and juices were available, but I checked around 7:30 to 8 a.m. and again before we left at 8:45, and there was no sign of breakfast. The room wasn’t very clean. The carpet hadn’t been vacuumed, white residue was on the horizontal surfaces, and there were brown hairs on the sink even though I’m blonde. No soap or shampoo was provided. The toilet paper was so poor it fell apart with the slightest moisture, though the facial tissue was good. This was a handicap room with a large bathroom, but it wasn’t quite set up for physically challenged guests. The shower drain sat about 3/4" below the floor, so stepping down into the hole threw off my balance. There was nowhere to put clothes or toiletries. The outlet was across the room from the sink and mirror, so I couldn’t see what I was doing while drying or styling my hair. A mirror and a table or counter by that outlet would fix two of those issues. The bathroom outlet was tied to the ceiling light and fan, both much too bright and noisy to use at night. Bring your own toilet paper. 😉

After work, the room seemed even worse than when I’d arrived tired and gone to sleep. I woke up with a headache after spending the night in a room that smelled of cigarettes and mold, despite being on a nonsmoking hall. People were actively smoking in the hallway, and others were loud at 1:30 a.m. I asked the night staff for a room change, but they and the manager refused, saying I should have asked earlier. They weren’t polite about it, either. I showed them photos of black mold on the carpets, and they still wouldn’t move me. In a mostly empty hotel, changing one room and cleaning another should cost almost nothing, especially when there’s a health and air quality issue. A business based on customer service should never refuse a customer in that situation. Utterly disgraceful.

Studio 6 Suites is a big difference from Motel 6. The room was clean and well equipped, with a larger refrigerator than you get in an ordinary hotel room, and the staff were amazingly friendly. The price was excellent and we really enjoyed our stay. It’s just north of I-10, pet friendly, and there’s no pet fee for pets under 20 pounds. What a great place for a night in the Breaux Bridge area. We’ll be back next time, and I highly recommend Studio 6 Suites.

The room was clean, the staff were friendly, and the coffee was great. The elevator wasn’t working, though I was only on the second floor. I had to leave in a hurry and am trying to call the front desk for my receipt, but no one is answering. If you see this, please contact me here.
