Knights Inn Brenham

The staff were very kind and clearly overwhelmed during my five nights at the Knights Inn in Brenham, which I got lucky to book during the week of Hurricane Beryl. I waited in the lobby for a few hours while they cleaned rooms one at a time. My room was adequate: clean sheets that looked freshly unfolded, a clean bathroom with enough toiletries, cold air-conditioning, cable TV, and a refrigerator. I couldn’t work out the ice machine at first, but staff brought ice to my room, and I figured it out later. It wasn’t the Ritz Carlton, but it had all the amenities I needed from home. The staff kept smiling and professional through a very difficult time. My short stay was memorable, and I’d gladly return if I needed a room again.

The room was roomy, and both the beds and loveseat were comfortable. Service was good. There are lots of shops and places to eat nearby, though the Mexican restaurant attached to the motel wasn’t the greatest.

I paid $90 for one night and found stained bedding, mold all over, and a strong urine smell. The rooms were absolutely nasty. I ended up on the sofa, barely sleeping and waiting for daylight so I could leave. I know it’s low budget, but I didn’t expect this. Anyone rating the place above “Do Not Stay” must be lying, or it’s management doing the ratings. I’d upload photos if I could. Vile and disgusting!

For $85, this hotel was a huge letdown. The room was dirty and outdated, there was mold in the bathroom, and the ceiling over the sleeping area was falling apart. It really needs remodeling and new fixtures. Even when desperate, I found it gross to sleep there. I should’ve slept in my car and saved my money.
