Best Western Brigham City Inn & Suites

The room above us was noisy all night, and by morning the heat and fan brought in a very strong weed smell. I went outside to check, but no one was there. The odor gave me a headache, so we checked out early. I explained everything at the front desk, but got no apology, just a shrug and an explanation that it must have come from outside. She even said she could smell it too. We’d booked a suite for our anniversary, but it wasn’t ready at check-in and we waited at least 30 minutes while they rushed to clean it. They did apologize for the delay, though it left us uneasy about how clean it was. I won’t return, and I’ll tell others about this experience.

Our company has stayed here for months, and I helped a friend get hired, so he needed a room at the hotel. He’s a Black man, and the front desk woman with long dark hair and glasses treated him poorly. Other people were getting lower monthly rates, but he wasn’t offered the same. They put him in a run-down room that was supposedly “down” because it had no bathroom door. I went in after coming back from rotation home and made his month-long reservation myself. A different woman helped me, entered the same monthly price I pay, and said he only needed to sign when he got back from work. But when he arrived, the woman with the glasses told him he couldn’t have the rate we’d been promised. From what we’ve seen, Brigham doesn’t seem welcoming to people with darker skin. He deserves equal treatment. This hotel needs people who aren’t racist at the front desk.

The room was clean, but the sink dripped all night and the beds were really firm and squeaky. Breakfast was one of the worst I’ve had at a hotel, everything was gone and there wasn’t a staff member around. If breakfast is why you’re booking, skip this place. Check-in was quick, though the woman wasn’t very friendly. This location needs an overhaul, and I won’t be back.

After I got back from a day at a conference, my bed hadn’t been made. I called the front desk and learned that housekeeping only makes beds if you specifically request a full cleaning. Nobody had told me this, and the person I spoke to wasn’t sure how guests were supposed to find out. I understand having to ask for fresh sheets, but needing to request that they make the bed is new to me. I’ve stayed at Best Westerns before, and I’m not a fan of this policy.
