DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Bristol, Connecticut

We love the environment here, and this was our second or third stay. The hotel is quiet and relaxing, and the staff are 10 Star professional. My wife and I enjoyed a wonderful breakfast with great service from a Southern gentleman from Birmingham Alabama. It made for a nice conversation since my wife had lived, worked, and resided in Huntsville Alabama. Thank You Doubletree Bristol Connecticut not Bristol UK. I first booked a room in Bristol UK by mistake, then had to rebook when we arrived. The staff were gracious and patient, and the stay was inviting and comfortable.

A small room and burnt pizza at the restaurant. Fine for sleeping, but that's about all. At check-in I wasn't told much, so I had to ask everything, even how to find the elevator.

Money was taken from sealed Valentine's Day cards that our children's grandparents had given them. Housekeeping opened the cards and took the cash. They came every day of our stay except the day the money went missing, or so they claimed. That day, their log said we'd denied access to the room, which never happened. No one had been in the room from 4:00 a.m. to 5:00 p. just like every other day that week, though we know someone did go in. We told the front desk. They said they looked into it and found nothing, but refused to tell us what the cameras showed or whether anyone entered after they reported no housekeeping that day. They wouldn't confirm that nobody had gone in and told us to call police if we wanted more details. They offered to repay the cash, but that doesn't undo being stolen from during our stay. It's a shame, because it's a nice hotel, but I don't feel our belongings are safe there.

I was in town for a gig, had no reservation, and the hotel was practically empty. The front desk charged me $309.00 at check-in, and I didn't notice until morning. Their response was “oh well.” I called corporate, who said the hotel would refund the difference down to the advertised $160 rate. Then I got this lie. They were virtually empty and still overcharged me. It feels like they're robbing customers. All the celebrity clients will no longer use any hiltons because they overcharge, give attitude, and refuse to lower the rate to what's ADVERTISED even after corporate tells the GM to refund. Bad business, that's how HILTON operates.
