Oceans Beach Resort & Suites

The location in Pompano is great, and that's why my girlfriend and I chose this hotel. We were excited to come, but the place was seriously underwhelming. Whoever owns it needs to rethink who they hire, since poor treatment of guests surely affects the employees too. I don't know whether "Amish" is an employee or supervisor, but he should seriously find a different line of work, preferably outside customer service. I hope someone takes a good look at this establishment and starts making changes. There are much better places to stay.

The beach access is behind the motel, about a block away. When I went to the pool, there were two huge iguanas in the pool area, and one was swimming in the water. There were palm leaves all through the pool. The only decent things in the room were a tiny fridge and microwave. For what they charge, you can find somewhere better. This looks like an old motel with a changed name, and the online photos are very outdated. Pulling in felt sketchy, and the staff were strange at check-in. They asked for IDs from everyone, which surprised me, and kept asking if we smoked. Meanwhile, the people two doors down smoked weed outside their room for half the night. I said we didn't want housekeeping, but while we were at the beach they came in and took all our towels. Then they kept returning to ask about cleaning. That bothered me, especially since there are no in-room safes. The room was old and musty, the toilet kept running, and there were ants in the bathroom. My allergies got really bad, and I suspect mold, though I can't say for sure. Thankfully, I didn't find bedbugs. The door had only a key card lock, no chain or anything else, which made me uneasy. This overpriced dump is far from a resort, and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

This family-owned place is almost beachfront, and getting to the beach is a short, pedestrian-friendly walk. There's also a beautiful pier with fishing and pelicans that seem attentive. We've stayed here over the past six years, anywhere from three days to three weeks. It's the right place for a fair price.

The rooms are dated, but clean, and the office staff were very friendly. The location is excellent, right off the beach and close to lots of amenities. I'll definitely rent from these folks again.
