We’ve stayed at three Pompano locations before and had good experiences, but this visit was very different. We arrived close to midnight, and staff pointed us toward a building across from check-in. We didn’t realize Royal Palm was part of the complex, and parked a long walk away because there was nowhere closer. After hauling our bags to the front entrance, we found it didn’t lead to any rooms. No one had told us we needed to go all the way around the building. The next day I found dried hair stuck to the bedroom wall. The unit seemed about 4-5 years overdue for paint, and the furniture was dated, worn, and uncomfortable. With no carpet or rugs, we could really hear chairs moving in the room above. There was no washer or dryer in our unit, and the dirty balcony’s view was completely blocked by a large bush. It was the only room on that side with that problem. After I had a medical emergency and spent two days admitted, we came back and asked to change rooms. We were told, “That’s not going to happen.” Check-in staff weren’t cordial, and there was no one else to speak with. The pool itself was fine, but had no drinks or food, and the poolside tables stayed filthy throughout our visit. Maintenance and custodial staff in our building were very friendly, and the concierge helped us get a new lightbulb and more toilet paper. All in all, a very disappointing stay.
