Travel Inn Bristol near State St

For the price, it was a decent stay, and getting around Bristol from here was easy. The rooms are a bit dated, though I saw a crew updating a few of them. When something went wrong, the front desk contacted maintenance right away, and someone came to fix it within 20 minutes.

The room was noisy all night, the fridge made boiling sounds, and there was just one usable outlet by the TV. No chair, either. Outside, there was trash around, broken appliances in the halls and parking area, and several cars that looked abandoned. Inside, the bathroom ceiling was awful, a strip of flooring between the room and bathroom had come loose, and there was a strange caulk-like thing by the door that I thought might be a bee nest. The bedspread had a burn about the size of a quarter, and the bathroom had no working vent because the one there was taped over. The photos look nothing like this place unless they're 25 years old. For $80, absolutely not. It's the nastiest and least affordable option. ESA is farther away but costs $20 less a night. Also, I didn't like that they told non-guests my room number. The desk guy seemed to make cash payments disappear or act as if they never existed, then didn't know what I was talking about. That's stealing.

The staff and owners are nice, and the price is a great deal. It's a decent place to stay, and I'd recommend it.

We only chose this place because our dogs were over the weight limit at other hotels, and I wouldn't recommend it unless you're used to cheap, run-down hotels. The room looked neglected, with cracked, dirty ceiling spots that seemed like they might be from a leak. The shower clogged and overflowed, and the fridge froze our drinks and salads. Staff were smoking by the front lobby door. Our window looked out on the filled-in swimming pool area, now piled with wood and debris. The whole place felt like a worn-down apartment complex, with lots of people seeming to live there and hang around outside the rooms. The front desk employee at check-in, though, was really nice.
