What keeps me coming back to Studio 6 Extended Stay (Brookfield) is how quiet it is, even on Friday and Saturday nights. There’s room to park, picnic tables where you can hang out, and I even made a good friend there. Larger dogs are allowed, and the owners I’ve seen seem to have them under control. It’s also close to the freeway, so getting around and coming back at the end of the day is easy. I’ve stayed in all kinds of places around greater Milwaukee, from big chains to little motels with no online presence. This is easily my favorite. The rooms are huge for the price, with lots of storage, a king or queen bed, chairs, a TV, good Wi-Fi, and a recliner that feels just like a La-Z-Boy. There’s a full-size fridge, microwave, and stovetop too, so you can cook and eat like you do at home. Laundry is on site, with plenty of machines available around the clock. The staff have been wonderful every time I’ve visited. They’re friendly, helpful, and make the place feel welcoming. One woman has cheered me up several times just by saying something positive. A few things bring my rating down to 4.7 out of 5. Drinks and snacks cost $3.80 each, which stings when you’re really thirsty. Breakfast is a very basic first-come, first-served cabinet; by 6:30 in the morning it’s usually empty, and sometimes it isn’t open at all. Luckily, the McDonald’s 0.1 miles away is the best one I’ve been to, consistently. The overnight desk setup is frustrating too. It’s unattended about 98% of the time, so you have to call for help. We once had four guests waiting 10-15 minutes before the first person got assistance, then the rest of us waited in line. A lobby entry sensor could help with that. Even with those annoyances, I’d recommend this place to anyone needing a longer stay that feels like home.

It’s the people who made my extended stay memorable. Loreniz and Emily, the on-site managers, cheerfully helped with all my requests, even when I was being a bit needy. Gabby from housekeeping keeps my room in great shape and catches the little details. Ray was also a standout, easily the coolest and friendliest staff member I’ve met in all my travels. Her kindness, professionalism, and upbeat attitude are hard to forget. The room worked well for a longer visit, with a comfortable bed, plenty of storage, a useful workspace, and a kitchenette with a full-size fridge, stovetop, microwave, and prep space. It felt practical for actually living there, not just sleeping. The area is quiet and feels safe, with shops, restaurants, grocery stores, and major roads only minutes away. Getting to nearby business parks or heading toward Milwaukee was easy. The rest of the stay was low-stress too. The front desk team was welcoming, check-in and checkout went smoothly, and housekeeping gave long-term guests privacy while remaining available when needed. The property did a great job balancing comfort and convenience, with genuinely helpful people throughout.

I was in room #355, but the occupants beneath me wrecked their room, #255, and the hotel tried to switch the room numbers so I’d be held responsible for the damage. I took photos and a video of my room, including the digital key, and after I complained to Motel 6 Corporate, the phone was already like that when I arrived. My room had no damage at all. It took a day for them to return my $100 deposit and the $4 for gas I never used. The stoves run on natural gas. I’d stay away from this hotel, and I’d take pictures of your room to protect yourself from something like this.

I ended up spending the night in my car in the parking lot. Check-in closes at midnight, something I missed in the fine print, and there was no desk clerk when I arrived. Sites still say the property has a 24/7 front desk, but it doesn’t. I called and watched the phone ring behind the desk, about 15 feet away, while the lights were off. I also took a picture of the sign saying the desk was away. I booked through hotels.com and got neither a refund nor a reply through chat. Hotels.com tried calling repeatedly over several days, also with no answer. Corporate told me they had refunded hotels.com, not my card, but hotels.com denied that. I’d never had trouble with hotels.com before, but I’m done with them after this. It’s absurd that there’s no one at the desk after midnight and calls go unanswered, even through the handicapped phone entrance.

If you’re after drama and drugs, that’s what you’ll find here. Someone also set off the fire alarm at 2 am and the whole building had to evacuate. Getting my $100 security deposit back took 10 days, plus hours on the phone with Motel Six.
