Motel 6 Indianapolis East

I only wanted a clean room with a decent bed, somewhere to sleep and shower before driving home. I knew Motel 6 was a low-cost option without the usual hotel amenities, and I wasn’t expecting anything fancy. But this was the worst room I’ve ever stayed in. If we hadn’t arrived so late, I would’ve driven the six hours home instead. The room reeked of cigarette smoke even though it was marked non-smoking, and the place felt unsafe enough to have an armed guard patrolling the parking lot at night. The towels were filthy, just one bath towel and one hand towel, and the shower was dirty with a broken drain. The front door was rusted, the heater was broken and full of dust and debris, and the ice maker in the lobby was covered in rust and mildew. I took pictures of all of it, including the towels with dirt and hair on them. Nothing seemed updated in years. The desk chair was broken, and the tube TV looked like it was from 1995, with awful colors and most channels not coming in. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to anyone, and I’ll never stay at Motel 6 again. I’m going to post about it on travel sites so other people don’t make the same mistake.

The only good part of our stay was Bronson, the guy who checked us all in. The rest was awful. We came with a group of kids, and one of the upstairs walkways looked ready to collapse, which was a serious safety concern. Police were there constantly, and there was fighting and arguing in a nearby room. It seemed like drugs and prostitution were a major draw here. The rooms were filthy. The floors looked as if they’d never been cleaned, there were no mattress pads, and the comforters were soiled. Please don’t stay here.

Don’t expect a renovated room here like at many other Motel 6 locations. Our room was fairly dirty, though not unbearable. We arrived during the race and they said they had no rooms, even though I’d booked weeks ahead. They offered us a room that seemed fine, except its light fixture didn’t work. Be advised, the hotel wasn’t prepared for the influx of people.

The TV didn’t work, and the bed was neither soft nor supportive. We only had two pillows for two people. The bathroom was gross, with water on the floor and a smell like backed-up toilets as soon as we walked in. I nearly skipped showering, but had to. It was just a place to sleep for the night, one step above sleeping in my car.
