My Place Hotel - Brookings, SD

The hotel was clean, comfortable, and conveniently located. This was my first stay at a MY PLACE hotel. I picked it over a VRBO house rental because the room had a kitchen with a fridge, sink, cooktop, and microwave. The kitchen was in great shape, but to my surprise there were no plates, coffee cups, utensils, or cookware. That should have been mentioned on the reservation website.

Run down and not looked after. The room was trashed, and the showers were cold. Wouldn’t stay here.

The room was large and clean for the price, with a tall fridge and freezer, toaster, microwave, two electric burners, and an outdoor grill. There’s a full kitchen, but no plates, pans, or silverware. If you need those, I’d try Walmart. Breakfast isn’t included, though you can order a few basic things to buy at Walmart. The shower was decent and the beds were comfortable. The room had a few things other hotels don’t, and was spacious, but this visit was a letdown. I might try it again. Avoid room 101 if you can. You’ll frequently hear footsteps on the stairs and the side door slamming. What upset me most was maintenance entering my room four times without any written, posted, or verbal notice. Twice they came in while I was in Teams meetings, interrupting them. I had my do-not-disturb tag up, but it didn’t help. I understand maintenance is sometimes needed, but having people enter four times without telling guests at all was upsetting. When I asked why nothing had been posted, I didn’t get a good answer.

The staff were friendly and helpful, and the hotel and room were clean and well maintained. The room was spacious and had nice amenities. It exceeded my expectations, and I’d definitely stay again.
