Bar Harbor

The staff are friendly and respectful, and the rooms are clean. I didn’t see roaches, bedbugs, or any other insects. Staying here feels like home. Come to Myrtle Beach, SC and book a room at BAR HARBOR. Trust me, it’s worth it.

I’ve usually been very happy staying here, but this visit was awful. The room was a mess when we arrived, with no towels or washcloths. There was a burn hole in the couch, and I found pills and a pile of change under the cushion. It was not a pleasant stay. I’ve included photos to show how bad the room was.

I’ve stayed here several times without problems, but the place has really gone downhill. I checked in at 945pm on Fri Feb 13th and got room 107. The people next door were loud, and I could smell weed. I unpacked and showered because I had to be at work by 1130. The tub leaked all over the bathroom floor, making it easy to slip. I got out carefully, then realized there were no towels. I called the front office repeatedly before finally reaching someone. They said they couldn’t bring towels because they were the only person there, so I had to wrap myself in a blanket and go to the office. It was embarrassing. When I came back from work around 2am, there was no parking nearby, so I had to leave my car far from my room. Then I found roaches inside. I’m checking out Sat instead of Sun and will contact someone about the condition of these rooms. I think the fire Marshall inspects the motels here in MB.

I’ve stayed here since I was 18, and I’m 25 now. Last month, in December, I came by Uber because I didn’t have a vehicle. Today I made a reservation around 11 in the morning, then walked from Bermuda sands over to bar harbor to ask about early check-in. They said it wasn’t available before 3 pm, so I waited 3 1/2 hours at McDonald’s. About an hour before returning by Uber, I called and asked them to process my card, and they took the payment. When I walked in, four front desk employees were standing around talking trash about people. I gave the woman my ID, and she gave me a strange look before saying I couldn’t stay without a vehicle on site or flight information proving I’d come from the airport. They checked some list, then said they’d refund me. I told them I stay there often and have come without a vehicle several times, but they still refused to house me. I got my money back and stayed next door at Bermuda sands for less, in a nice room with no deposit required. I was very disappointed by how the women at the desk handled it and felt they lied to me. A man who pays to stay at bar harbor daily told me they had lied, since he has never had a car and has stayed there for months. I know the owner, who once helped when our jeep broke down in the parking lot. I’m not dumb or stupid. The women at the desk didn’t want to accommodate me. I know the reason they refused me, and I believe it was both racist and sexist. I’d appreciate a call or text from a manager. I’ll never return to bar harbor.
