Quality Inn Brookville

The staff member was friendly, and luckily I didn't see any bugs, but I won't return. I booked online and saw that the place was supposedly being renovated, though other reviews suggested that had been going on for over a year. My room was filthy, with coffee, jelly, and other stains all over the walls and about an inch of dust in the corner by the heater. There were wires hanging from the hallway ceilings, and I was the only car in the lot all night.

For the price, I suppose it could hardly be better, but I don't think I'll choose such a cheap hotel again. I'd rather pay another $30/night for a clean room without sunflower seed shells scattered over musty carpet. Mine smelled like smoke, and the pillow had a gross stain. I asked a staff member for more towels and a new pillow, and was told they'd bring them after the laundry was done, but nothing ever arrived. I'd bring sanitizing wipes to clean the surfaces and touchpoints before staying. The room door was open when we first came up, which made me suspect that's how they air out the smoke smell in the non-smoking rooms. Across the hall, a door stayed open our entire stay, and that room seemed to be used for storing their junk. There were several rooms like that, which was very odd.

We left right after checking in, once we saw the condition of the property. The front desk clerk had a sign asking us to call her phone for help, and before handing over a key she said she hoped the room would be clean and to tell her if it wasn't. Our door, like the other room doors, was already open. There was visible mold on the box frame, linens were just tossed on the beds, and everything had construction dust on it. A ladder leaned against the bedroom wall, and garbage bags were scattered through the hallways. The lot was torn up with very little parking, the lobby was run-down, doors were coming off hinges, and the whole place looked closed or in the middle of major renovation. The rooms and facilities weren't habitable. We chose to make the four hour drive home rather than stay in that dump. Afterward, the hotel marked us as a no-show even though we'd been told our money was refunded. It took more than two weeks to get my points put back on my credit card because the hotel was avoiding contact with our travel company. This wasn't what we'd expected or paid for, and I wouldn't recommend staying here under any circumstances.

You can't beat the newly renovated rooms, excellent staff, great breakfast, and excellent price!
