Econo Lodge Brownsville

The room itself was clean and comfortable, but the breakfast was misleading. They had a few muffins, cereal, coffee, and a couple of very old bananas. If that's all that's being offered, they might as well stop calling it breakfast. It felt like they were doing the bare minimum just to claim they served it.

I could smell strong mold as soon as I was in the room. Water came through a ceiling crack whenever the upstairs neighbor used water, and the faucets didn't sit flush against the wall, so water got behind them. There was even a frog living back there. The shower curtain extended about a foot past the shower, leaving water on the floor. You can see marks showing where it used to hang, probably moved because of the water damage. When I reported all of this, I only got an AI response.

We slept well because the room was quiet, and it had recently been updated. This used to be an Econo Lodge years ago, and it's much nicer now. The morning staff were friendly, there were breakfast sandwiches in the fridge, a waffle maker for hot food, and plenty of coffee. It's just off Route 40, so it worked well for an overnight stop. We were welcomed as Choice Privileges members, and the gentleman at the desk was kind and helpful, including pointing us toward nearby restaurants. I'd stay again when passing through.

After a long day driving, I just walked in without a reservation. The night clerk gave me a great rate, and the room was quiet and clean. The bed was super comfortable, and there was plenty to eat at breakfast. I'd definitely recommend staying here.
