Towneplace Suites by Marriott Brunswick

Breakfast was awful, and I won’t go back. In our first room with two queen beds, the TV didn’t work, the shower curtain was too short, and there was no hair dryer, so we moved to another room. The bed there wasn’t very comfortable either. In the morning, the shower fixture barely worked and gave us only a trickle of water. Then, after breakfast, the lock on our room door was stuck open.

The room was a queen suite, and the easy front desk check-in was a plus. It had a comfy bed, a large shower with good pressure, and a kitchen with more than everything you’d need. The hotel seems almost brand new, with clean hallways and a hydration station by the elevators to refill bottles. They also gave me two bottles of water at check-in. Great location, and it seems especially suited to long stays. The room was clean enough, not the worst I’ve had at a Marriott, but I do wish they’d mop and vacuum.

The room layout was nice, the kitchenette was great, the bathroom was spacious, and the service was perfect. The main thing keeping me from a five-star rating was the bed, which was stiff, and the pillows, so soft they were nearly flat. The walls are thin enough that I could hear everything from the neighboring rooms, above and below, and the hallway. Also, the smoke detector is directly over the bed, so its flashing light shines right in your eyes at night. It wasn’t a terrible stay, though a more comfortable bed would’ve made a difference.

The room was stylish, clean, and comfortable, and the stay was great overall. Bradley, the night manager, was kind and welcoming even late at night. The staff were friendly except for the breakfast team. They weren’t rude, but weren’t very friendly either, and once breakfast was over they were done. Nothing was replenished even with 20 minutes left, so don’t come down late. That didn’t reflect the rest of an excellent stay.
