University Inn

We stayed two days, and nobody from housekeeping came to see if we needed towels or soap. There were things left by another guest under the bed, bugs all over, and a shower that didn't work right. Breakfast only runs for about two hours, which is annoying, and the coffee is terrible. The front desk person was rude when I called about a lost item. I was there for an A&M game, and because we booked last minute the room was around $100 a night. Honestly, avoid this place if you can. I'd give it zero stars if that were possible.

The room had a strong cigarette smell, and that was when we decided not to stay. We'd just checked in and were heading there after seeing what looked like a drug deal in the parking lot, with people around who appeared to be under the influence of narcotics. The woman at the front desk told me there'd be no refund. By then I didn't care, and left anyway. The Inn looked very run down from the moment we pulled up, though old hotels and motels don't normally bother me. I've stayed in dingy places before, but this was the worst I've seen. I'd caution anyone thinking of staying here.

The beds were comfortable, and being close to the university worked well for us. The room itself felt damp and dated, though, with stained carpets, and the whole facility needed cleaning. The outlet by the sink for the hair dryer didn't work. We tried to use the coffee machine, but there was mold or something inside the filter compartment.

The night clerk was kind and apologized when we reported the roaches, then offered us a room upstairs in another building. We were exhausted, so we tried it. Same problem, roaches everywhere, including in the bed. I've never seen anything like it. I found and booked another motel room, more expensive, thankfully, and we left. We'd checked in after an afternoon A&M game, where they beat Auburn, yay, and dinner. We'd been up since 5:30 and just wanted to sleep. The property looked run down, but we thought one night would be fine if the room was clean. In the first floor room, small brown roaches were crawling on the bedroom walls and bathroom floor, and we found them in the bed when we pulled back the covers to check for bedbugs. I packed up right away and went to complain and leave. My husband talked to the night clerk while I searched for other hotels on my phone. Game day prices elsewhere were shocking, but there was no way I could stay there. University Inn might have relatively good prices on game days compared with other hotels nearby, but avoid it unless you're fine reenacting 'Joe's Apartment' during your stay. Management must have heard about this before. From our experience, the whole hotel seems infested. Don't let this happen to you. 😑
