Hampton Inn & Suites Buffalo Downtown

I gave it 3 stars because I’ve called twice about the Keurig I left in my room. Both times they said they’d get back to me, but it’s now day three and I still haven’t heard anything. The staff who helped me were lovely, though. The housekeeper they call the queen has been there 20 years, and she was so polite and caring that she made me feel at home. Felicia at the desk was great, and Marilyn was very helpful too.

Azjanae was a 10 out of 10, exactly the kind of concierge and communications coordinator you want to meet at a hotel. The whole team knew how to make me feel at home. Ask for Azjanae, and if you want somewhere comfortable, stay at the Hampton Inn. Let’s go Buffalo!

Azjanae at the front desk made us feel so welcome. She was helpful, delightful, and everything hospitality should be. The hotel was very clean too, with a beautiful pool and a warm, home-like feel.

Update: After I posted this, the hotel called me directly. The manager, Davey or Dave E., said he had only started the day before I wrote the review, so I don’t blame him for the earlier lack of follow-up. He seemed to be trying to improve things and agreed it was unacceptable that nobody from sales had contacted us. He offered compensation, which I’m happy to accept. My main issue was the lack of service and acknowledgment, so I’ve updated my rating to 4 stars. The room details below still affected my rating, though I expect service to improve under the new management. We booked a wedding block and a Large King suite for my bridal suite. My guests seemed happy, but our room didn’t live up to expectations. The bedroom smelled strongly of cleaner with a sour note when we arrived at 3 PM. We left soon after for the rehearsal and dinner, then came back around 10:30 PM to a horrible vomit smell. I know that kind of mess can be very hard to remove from carpet or fabric. I asked the desk about switching suites, but the only other option was a king suite, too small for my bridal party to get ready in. The overnight maintenance worker came with a carpet cleaner and spent a long time doing his best. He was wonderful and deserves a raise. It helped a lot, but I could still smell traces overnight. By midmorning, the odor was noticeable in the living area, so I had to shut the bedroom door. None of the windows opened, and some ventilation windows would have been appreciated, even though I understand safety limits on how far windows can open. I couldn’t get the carpet cleaned again on the wedding day. When my husband and I returned around 12:30 AM, the smell was so bad we had to sleep on the pull-out couch. It wasn’t how we wanted to spend our wedding night, and we could only use half the suite. The room also fell short in smaller ways for the price and occasion. The tissues were rough and low quality, which I noticed while crying happy tears. There was no tea in the room, and the lobby only had caffeinated tea. The desk lamp didn’t work. When I checked it, I found it connected to an old-looking power strip and extension cord behind the desk, with no free wall outlet. I unplugged the living room TV to plug the lamp in safely. There was no pen or paper by the phone either, and I needed some during the day. I hate leaving a public 1-star review, but I’d raised these issues with the front desk several times and again at checkout. Our booking agent also said the concerns would be passed to management and sales. We heard nothing from anyone until after I posted.
