We’ve stayed at the Sloans twice now, even though we usually don’t return to the same place when traveling for work. The owners and management are amazing: friendly, flexible, understanding, and they always answer calls and texts. The claim in another review that “the owners are crazy” is a complete lie. We’ve had rooms with full kitchens, which are so convenient for longer stays, and we appreciate that the place is pet-friendly. We expected old-school rooms, but upgrades and renovations have made the Sloans feel like home. My family and I will keep highly recommending it.

The manager was friendly and helpful, and I slept well in the comfortable bed. The place was clean, quiet, and comfortable, and I’d stay again. Bathroom lighting was bright, but the room itself was so dim that I had to bring in my camping lantern to read.

The owners have remodeled everything and are making the place look amazing. My room had a full kitchen, though I don’t know if all the rooms do. They’re also super hospitable and will take care of you. And something a lot of independently run motels can’t seem to manage: they answer the phone. Sloans Motel actually picks up.

The motel smelled sickening, inside and out, and there were flies all through the rooms. At least they provide a fly swatter. I had to stay overnight because of vehicle problems, and the staff were friendly, I’ll give them that. There are warning labels in the office saying the water has been deemed high in nitrate, so babies and mothers-to-be shouldn’t drink it. That put the hot breakfast, including the coffee, out of the question. If you have no other option, it beats sleeping on the sidewalk, but otherwise I’d keep driving to a nicer town. I wouldn’t recommend it or return.
