Super 8 Butler Mo

The bed was comfortable and the location quiet, but I won’t stay here again. There was no fridge or microwave, and the coffee maker barely worked. Worst of all were the bugs. It looked like the room had been sprayed: a couple of roaches were dying, several dead ones were along the baseboard under the sink, and I had to kill three that were still alive. We were so tired that we didn’t leave.

The staff were very friendly, but the place is in such poor shape. There were around 15 TVs stacked by the lobby entrance and a broken heater blocking the sidewalk. Our room was filthy: trash bins hadn’t been emptied, the towels were stained, the worn sheets looked dirty, and dust fell from the curtains. We only stayed because of the ice storm, and we still paid $80. It wasn’t worth $40. Avoid it.

I had my kitten with me, didn’t know the area, and had already been through a lot. The young man at the desk was kind, but this was easily the worst place I’ve ever stayed. It was dirty, and the next morning I saw a dead cockroach the size of a Buick. I went to pay for another night. The manager/owner gave me a look like I was a turd in a punch bowl, then shook her head when I paid with a $100 bill and told me to go get change. My change was $25. I was stunned that I’d inconvenienced her. I was too tired to challenge it or leave, and I can’t believe I let it go. The next morning the door wasn’t unlocked for coffee. It makes me unhappy to write this, and I thought about it for a while. I feel like the nice young man on the next night got in trouble for helping me and being kind. Don’t leave the light on. I’ll never come back.

Minus five stars. I checked in, dropped my stuff in the room, and walked across the parking lot to a restaurant. When I came back, there were bedbugs in my bed. I explained it at the desk and asked for another room, but they told me I couldn’t stay at their hotel because I had bedbugs. I have bedbugs? Are you kidding me? This place is a joke. Don’t stay here or at the Days Inn across the street, which is owned by the brother or someone related to the guy who owns the Super 8. I’ve spent four days a week in hotels all over the country for the last 10 years, and this Super 8 was by far the worst. I’m no fancy suit-and-tie guy, I’m a construction worker who can sleep almost anywhere.
