This isn't a five-star hotel, as there are some minor cosmetic issues, but the price was excellent. The room was clean, the beds comfortable, and the location felt safe and quiet. Service was good, and I'd recommend it for a night's stay. Breakfast was the usual spread, hot eggs, sausage, and waffles, plus cold cereal, apples, and yogurt. I'd stay again.

The bathroom had hair in the tub, sink, and toilet, and the tub plug leaked so my soak didn't last long. The deadbolt also wouldn't engage properly. Still, the suite had a good queen bed, nice pillows, clean bedding, and a main carpet that looked clean. The corners, especially by the bed and nightstand, were grimy. There was a disgusting black disposable glove on the bottom shelf of my nightstand, and I cleaned the dirty corners myself. The fridge with freezer was good, and the microwave and coffee maker worked well. There was plenty of room to walk around, and the dark brown couch and coffee table gave it a suite feel, though I wasn't sure how clean the couch was. The desk chair was dirty on top. The heat worked great and the water was nice and hot. I don't like giving a negative report, but I want to be honest and helpful. Maybe the cleaning staff needs a good vacuum with a detachable hose to reach the corners. My husband enjoyed the biscuits and gravy at breakfast.

The staff were actually really nice, which makes it a shame that I won't stay here again. On my second visit, after booking more than a month ahead, I was put on the first floor instead of the top floor I requested. As a light sleeper, I barely slept. A Mustang started up at 4 am both mornings and idled loudly for at least half an hour before leaving, and the people upstairs sounded like gorillas wrestling. The bathroom looked as if it hadn't been cleaned in months, with spider nests in every corner, stained floors, a gross-looking shower, mold on the curtain, a broken shower knob, and a stained shower floor. Crumbs were scattered over the carpet, and the microwave and blow-dryer looked like they hadn't been updated since 2000 and seemed like fire hazards. The towels had someone else's hair woven through one, felt stiff, and didn't smell clean. I saw two cockroaches over the two days, one in the bathroom that disappeared before I could kill it, and another by the microwave. After that, even the food in the fridge felt contaminated. I spent almost $300 for a room that felt dirty, broken, and infested. My first stay in June had gone better: they gave me the top floor I requested, and though breakfast was just okay, I learned to buy non-dairy food beforehand since being vegan in the Midwest is always a joke. That first room still showed its age, with stained carpet, musty hallways, dated appliances, dust and cobwebs in corners, a stained bathroom mirror and floor, a cracked shower, and a dusty AC unit. I put up with it because I was hardly in the room and at least there were no bugs. The rooms need gradual upgrades, new appliances, and refurbished bathrooms, and they need proper cleaning staff, not teenagers working for the summer who don't know hotel etiquette. My advice is to tent the building and fumigate it.

The pool is closed indefinitely, despite what they say about maintenance, so beware. The place is a dump: the ice maker leaked all over the floor, the bathroom floor and tub were dirty, and the elevator looked like it had never been cleaned. The refrigerator was connected to a light switch, so it turned off when we switched off the lights. By the time we figured that out, we'd lost food we brought for my husband's dietary restrictions. When I gave the hotel feedback, they sent the same response they give to every negative review. They called the place "newly renovated," but that amounted to new carpet and a sloppy coat of paint.

The room was nice and I had no issues with it. I booked this hotel specifically for its pool and hot tub, which are listed as amenities, but they don't have either anymore. Because of that, I can't give it a good review.
