Holiday Inn Express Danville

Room 227 hit me with a musty mildew smell as soon as I opened the door. The AC had soaked the carpet, and there was black mold running along the wall under the unit. The tub water was running and couldn't be turned off, not just dripping, and there was no soap, only lotion, shampoo, and conditioner on the bathroom counter and in the tub area. I politely asked to move to a room without mold. The lady at the front desk was extremely nice and tried to find one, though it seemed difficult. She showed me room 135, which smelled "less" moldy and at least had dry carpet. But the lampshade was moldy, the bottom of the desk was discolored as if it had been wet for a while, and when I pulled the carpeted baseboard from the wall, there was more blackish mold all along it. I didn't stay in either room. I left and found somewhere else, and was much happier. I've almost stayed at this place, but I stay in about 80 to 100 hotels a year and this is the most disgusting one I've encountered. One star is much too high, but I'm sharing what to expect. I recorded a video under a minute long that shows it all, and I hope I'm allowed to post it. Quality Inn in Danville, KY needs to close and start over. The only thing going for it is the staff, but nice people working in sewers wouldn't make me want to stay there either. Don't waste your time, money, or lungs breathing the air inside. We only lasted 10 minutes in the room before getting a refund. We were there for one night after our wedding so we wouldn't have to go home, but the room was crawling with roaches, no exaggeration. The room was gross and in horrible condition, and the smoke detector kept going off because it needed new batteries. The one good thing was that the lady at the front desk was nice and understanding. I'd give zero stars if I could.

The rooms were clean, and the staff were friendly and helpful, but we had several problems: the keys didn't work, there was no hot water, and the bathroom door was off its hinges. Those issues were out of the staff's control.

This was our second stay, and the second time we didn't get the room we reserved. We booked directly through the hotel, not a third-party site, but were still given a smaller room with smaller beds for the same price. The man at the desk ran our card without mentioning the change. When we went down to say it was the wrong room, he told us it was all he had.
