I've been coming to this resort for years, but it seems to be slipping. The pools weren't clean for a resort that should be kept in good shape, and the water slide was closed when we brought the kids because they said there weren't enough staff. Staffing also seemed too low to run things normally. The bigger issue for me was the front desk. The staff weren't friendly at all, and this wasn't the first time I've felt that way. I finally decided to write about it. In our executive room, the door between the two rooms sagged and wouldn't close. The bathroom was very dated and stained, too. I'm disappointed with this visit and hope management sees the reviews and addresses the staff's politeness. That's central to a successful business.

We had dinner in Anonada and skipped the hotel restaurant because we'd read bad reviews. The check-in went smoothly, and the rooms were good. We tried the indoor pool, but the water was cold. After we told an attendant, it was warm the following day, and the outdoor pool was warm when we went for a walk. The changing rooms were a letdown: there were no lockers, only two of the four showers had showerheads, and the working shower's timer made me restart it every 30 seconds.

The hot spring pools and lobby were nice, but the outdoor pool was closed for one day because it was too cold. The restaurant prices felt outrageous. It seemed like they were taking advantage of guests who mostly stay on the resort property. Our room needed work. With no bathroom fan or window, the room stayed damp after a shower. The shower wouldn't drain, and our towels never dried because of the poor air circulation. I kept going to the lobby for dry towels. The walls were thin enough that we could hear people talking next door and walking in the room below, which I know can happen in hotels. We asked on Tuesday to have the room serviced Wednesday so we'd get fresh towels and the bathroom wiped down. The staff member told us to use the door hanger, with one side for do not disturb and the other for service. When I checked it the next day, both sides said do not disturb, so I went to the lobby. I was told service had to be requested 24 hours ahead. I explained what we'd discussed the day before, and she added us to Wednesday's list. We were gone most of the day, but no one serviced the room. For what we paid, I expected better accommodations. We stayed from Monday, Feb 16th through the 19th.

April at the pro shop was great with us on the golf simulators. It was our first time using one, and she helped get the program and drinks set up, then checked in a few times with a smile. We had a really enjoyable time there.

The staff were lovely, accommodating, and professional, and the service was great. The rooms were decent, though dated, especially the bathrooms and HVAC, and felt more like a Days Inn or Super 8. Food at the on-site restaurants was about what you'd expect from a middling hotel chain. I could overlook the condition of the place if dining there were a draw, like the dining room at Chico Hot Springs.
