I checked in really late, around 3 AM. The service was about what you'd expect then, but there was no hassle, and the receptionist gave me extra soap, a toothbrush kit, and shampoo when I asked. The room was old and worn, but about what you'd expect, neither great nor terrible. The morning staff was awesome. Even though the Continental breakfast time had passed, she let me have some of their great coffee. She was warm, pleasant, and helpful, a great start to the day.

The desk clerk was very nice and the grounds were tidy, but that's where the positives ended. I left for another hotel without unpacking. The room was filthy and smelled awful, not just old-fashioned. Turning on the ancient AC made it smell like a port-a-potty. The toilet barely flushed, the caulking at the floor leaked, and there were dead flies in the window and dirt all over the door and frame. The bedding smelled strange, even though I'd only sat on the bed and hadn't turned down the quilt. The floor had a weird grimy film. I'd rather sleep in my car in July. Do NOT recommend.

I had to cancel my reservation, and trying to get the staff to handle it was awful. When I called, the front desk staff were rude and unprofessional, making the process much harder than it needed to be. They said only a manager could approve the cancellation, but the manager never seemed to be around. I left my contact information and never got a call back. If they treat people this badly over the phone, I can only imagine the in-person service. I won't stay here in the future.

I love this motel chain and really like the Buttonwillow location. The owners and staff are amazing, and my family and I will be customers for life. It's a safe place to rest for a few days before traveling. The staff are great, and Sharon up in Placerville is amazing too.

The beds are comfortable, the bathrooms are well kept and reliable, and the rooms are a decent size. Most of all, the giant air conditioner handles even 90+ degree heat. The building dates from the 70s, so the look and brown and orange colors feel like stepping back into that era. I don't mind that at all. The location is across from a truck stop, four miles outside Buttonwillow. There's an Indian food restaurant beyond the parking lot with meat and vegan options, plus a 24-hour truck stop with food, drinks, travel supplies, clothes, gifts, and a laundromat. I tried another restaurant down the street for every meal and was surprised by the quality, especially in such a remote area. To the 1-3 star reviewers: We regret that you didn't find the modern hotel luxuries you've come to expect. Now you've forced me and other reviewers to give five stars just to balance out your baseless ranting and raving.
