Quality Inn Byron - Warner Robins

I stayed on December 5 and ended up in a smoking room, though I hadn't meant to book one. The site didn't say it was a smoking room. There were roaches in the tub and on the wall as soon as I walked in. The sheets were yellow-stained, apparently hidden under the comforter, and the pillows were old and yellow too. After driving 11 hours straight, this was a terrible experience. I won't come back.

The rooms are still clean and it's usually very quiet, but this place has gone downhill under new management. The previous staff were wonderful and helpful, and I was sad to see them leave. Even when guests ask otherwise, people are now placed side by side for staff convenience, with privacy and safety ignored. The wings are noisy and smell of smoke, and large trucks block access to cars. I booked a non-smoking room but found cigarette butts on my car. Prices keep going up, and I'm done coming back. If you stay a night or two, parking is tight. The back rows may help you avoid dings or cigarette butts, though with so few guests and a hotel that's usually quiet, there's no reason people need to be booked so close together.

I found a cockroach when I pulled back the sheet to check for bed bugs, and they refused to refund me. Corporate was little to no help. I'd stayed at other quality inns before, but this experience has put me off Choice Hotels altogether.

It was quiet and the food was good, so it did the job when I needed a night stop while driving from Michigan to Florida with the kids. The hotel wasn't as good as I expected, though. The sign advertised a pool, but it was closed for the season. I probably would have picked somewhere else.
