Telemark Northwoods Lodging

The trails start right out the back door, so it was easy to bike down to the Mt. Telemark hub for the women's mountain bike clinic I attended. The new Trek Trails on-site were a lot of fun, with choices for riders at every level. I also liked having a screened porch and a washer and dryer in the condo. Each building has a handy picnic and grill area, too. I stayed at Telemark Northwoods.

It was nice to have a kitchenette in the “C” condo for making breakfast and lunch. There was plenty of room in the unit to unpack and unwind, with several closets for gear, plus secure ski and pole storage outside the rooms. The units can connect if you reserve them that way. We stayed recently and had a really nice, quiet time in the woods. The accommodations were clean and tidy.

The location worked perfectly for our events on the American Birkebeiner trail, and the price was good. Our “b” condo had a nice patio and kitchenette. The staff were friendly, and everything was quiet and clean. We had a very nice stay.

The condo wasn’t very clean, and the dishwasher made an incredibly loud noise that sounded like it was broken. There were no coffee filters or paper towels, and despite Expedia listing a full-size fridge and oven, neither was in the unit. We won’t stay here again or recommend it to anyone after how we were treated. We booked through Expedia, but apparently there was no communication between them and the property. We chose a pet-friendly room as a courtesy, although we didn’t have to, and while checking out I was walking my husband's "off duty" service dog to the office to return the keys. The woman at checkout seemed gleeful, as if she’d caught me. About ten minutes later, my husband saw a $100 charge on his card. When he called, she said it was for a dog. We explained that it was a service dog, and she demanded proof. She then said we should have told the property in advance. Both demands were TOTALLY UNLAWFUL. I asked her to refund us immediately, but she didn’t. My husband had to write a letter to get the money back, and the refund they sent still shows a charge even though we paid Expedia. If we’re charged twice, we’ll take further action. Absolutely unacceptable.
