Lake Cadillac Resort

The rooms and the property seemed fairly decent. I stayed a year ago and two years ago and loved it, but this visit was spoiled by the front desk service. I waited in the lobby for 15 minutes while a sign said staff would be back. That was fine, until I saw another sign asking guests to call for help. The woman answered right away, even though she was sitting in the office with the door open. I could hear her through the phone and from the lobby. She could have come out to greet us, but when I asked for a room, she rudely said there weren’t any and hung up. I never actually saw her. Just flat bad customer service.

There was no bar or restaurant as we’d been told, and the vending machines were out of order. The continental breakfast was really just prepackaged food. There wasn’t coffee in the lobby or a coffeemaker in the rooms, so you had to wait until around 8 o’clock to get any. The pool drops straight from 4 feet to 9, with no gradual slope. The rooms need updating, though the bathroom had been remodeled recently. The building itself could use a good power wash.

We were so glad our family stopped here for the night while passing through. Lacy at the front desk found us two rooms side by side, just steps from the water, which worked perfectly for us. We spent the evening on the balconies looking over the water and woke up to a spectacular sunrise. The rooms were clean, updated, and well stocked, with everything within walking distance. There’s also an adorable coffee hut on the property that was open at 6am and made a great latte.

For a room that size, I expected at least a table and chairs, but there weren’t any. There was no coffeemaker either, which seems like something a “resort” would have. We thought we could get coffee with the advertised continental breakfast, then learned by phone that breakfast isn’t offered in Winter. The website has several references suggesting it is, with no disclaimer about the seasonal change. It feels like false advertising. The rooms themselves were clean, but the blinds didn’t give us privacy and people could see straight in. They addressed that as best they could right away.
