Barb made us a delicious breakfast, and she and Jeff were so warm and welcoming. We even left with a lovely little parting gift. It was our second visit, and we’ll definitely come back. Such a beautiful bed and breakfast!

The historic home has such a lovely feel, with cozy spots to gather inside and out when the weather allows. Jeff and Barb make you feel right at home. The rooms are comfortable, and the bathrooms have plush towels, shampoo, conditioner, and soap. Barb serves homemade breakfast on individual plates, with quality food. A must-stay when visiting the Calmar/decorate area!

Our March visit brought three generations together under one roof, and it was our best stay yet. We’ve been to Lavender Fields Inn three times. We first introduced our son Chris and his wife Angie to the inn, and they’ve stayed even more often than we have. These days, it’s their go-to place to gather friends and family. Barb and Jeff are a big part of what makes the place special. They give you a warm, genuine welcome and treat you like family, while still letting you relax on your own. Breakfast is another highlight. They prepare everything fresh with local and garden ingredients, and it’s consistently the best we’ve had anywhere. The house is an immaculate, beautifully restored Victorian farmhouse at 103 West North Street in Calmar, IA, built in 1885. There’s plenty of history and character in the woodwork, and every room has its own personality. The rooms are spotless, the beds are comfortable, and each has a private bath. We’ll be back, no question. We recommend Lavender Fields Inn to everyone we know. It’s the best stay we’ve had in all our travels across the USA, and the best in the county too.

Breakfast was the highlight for us. Barb made a generous breakfast “pizza” that was more like an omelette, with fresh garden vegetables, and the rhubarb muffins were delicious. Even our biggest eaters left full. The garden and grounds are gorgeous and peaceful. The photos I included really don’t capture how lovely the yard is, especially for anyone who enjoys flowers and gardens. Jeff greeted us as soon as we arrived and showed us around. The interior is charming and beautifully decorated. Our group of friends had a wonderful stay with Jeff and Barb as hosts. The rooms are spacious and each has an attached bathroom, plus the usual hotel essentials like a hair dryer and a mini fridge with bottled water. The whole home was very clean. It’s a large place with plenty of bathrooms to clean, yet even the baseboards were perfectly dusted. We loved being here and would recommend giving Lavender Fields Inn serious consideration if you’re visiting the area. We’ll be back!

We found Lavender Fields for a college reunion in Decorah, and the house, rooms, gardens, and outdoor porch were all amazing. The home-cooked breakfast was especially wonderful. Jeff and Barb were so nice and accommodating. We can’t wait for another reason to stay!
