We came for our 27th anniversary and were glad we chose this place. It felt private and was really enjoyable. Each room has its own carport, and there are no joining walls with the next room. The staff are friendly too. The room’s a little outdated, which helps keep the cost down, but it has a fireplace. We probably wouldn’t need it in June. The beds were a little too hard for my taste, though lots of people prefer a firm mattress. It’s roomy, and we’ll be back!

The little fireplace was welcome, even in summer, when it gets nippy. It’s a quaint five-room inn right on the beach, and I loved that each room is private, with carport parking next to it and no shared walls. The room was dated but clean, and the bed was very comfortable. I did feel safe, though the door didn’t close properly. We thought it was shut, but it wasn’t, and that seems like a simple repair. There’s a mini fridge, a small microwave, and coffee from a local-ish (SLO) roaster to make in the little coffee maker. We may stay again.

The owner was really accommodating, and they brought fruit and muffins each day. It’s an older hotel, but clean and comfortable, with a bed-and-breakfast kind of layout, a fireplace, and an ocean-view porch. I’ve stayed at higher-end places on moonstone beach with more amenities, but I’ll return to the captain's cove. Great location, value, and experience!

We used to come every year because we loved the quiet and the view. It reminded me of my parents’ home. This time was awful. There was dark hair all over the floors, the toilet was dirty, and it didn’t look like the floors had been cleaned at all. Food and lots of hair were on the carpet. I told the man in the office, but he didn’t seem to care. He said they’d been really busy last week. I asked if someone could come clean the room and floors the next day since we were staying three days, but it never happened. They only brought towels, so I bought Lysol wipes and cleaned the whole bathroom myself because it was terrible. I was so mad I couldn’t enjoy the stay. The bed was very uncomfortable and needs replacing. The only good thing was the beautiful view. When we left, I saw the house cleaner, who gave me dirty looks. I thought the man must have said something to her, but she still hadn’t done her job. We love Cambria and are going again in 2 weeks, but we won’t stay here again.

The beach access and beautiful path along it were easy to get to, and the facilities made us feel cozy and warm. The nice older man was very generous, took care of all our needs, and brought us lovely baked treats. We’ve stayed at Hyatt Regency and Hilton, but this was by far the best. Thanks!
