The Rigdon House

We stayed upstairs in room 22 and found it quiet, clean, roomy, and comfortable. The in-room coffee was very good, and we enjoyed the snacks at the front desk, though we skipped happy hour. The hotel is a well-kept classic rustic property on the upper side of Cambria, across from downtown, with shops, bakeries, restaurants, a dog park, and a little creekside park all within walking distance. The shower pressure was extremely weak, though, and my wife didn't even try using it. That really needs fixing. We'll come back, but please sort out the shower.

Christian was so kind and attentive during Happy Hour. He came out to the fire pit to offer Shirley Temples to our 3 girls and check that we had everything we needed. This is our favorite place to stay in Cambria, and I hope he's there the next time we visit.

For a night on our coastal drive to San Diego, this worked well as a stop or a base. It's easy to reach from the drive, with plenty of amenities nearby, and the small-town feel and friendly service were nice. We liked the fire pit and happy hour drinks, and the room was huge with comfortable beds. There is some wear and tear, including a tired-looking rug and a few scorch marks on the plugs by the TV and fireplace. We could hear the upstairs neighbors, but the place wasn't busy, and noise at unreasonable hours wasn't an issue. Keep your expectations in check: it's not a Hilton or Marriott, and in this location it doesn't need to be. It might wear on you during a longer stay.

We picked The Rigdon House because it's dog friendly, and I'm glad we did. Our king suite was stunning, spacious, newly renovated, and incredibly clean, with everything we needed for the night. The communal kitchen was a favorite too, stocked with complimentary coffee, tea, and snacks. The staff were super friendly and helpful. Highly recommend staying here.
