A Friendly Inn at Harvard

The location was amazing, and we often went back to the room to recharge during the day. It had three small separate areas, which we joked made it our suite, and we were quite comfortable. The bed was comfortable, the bedding crisp and clean, and there was plenty of space. I’d read plenty of mixed reviews before arriving. This is an old, oddly built building, so expect nonstandard rooms and dated decor. Our room was totally fine. It’s obviously not the Four Seasons or even a Marriott, but the rates aren’t at that level either. If you want a relatively affordable place in a great location, don’t let the negative reviews put you off.

The owner was very friendly, and the house itself is a lovely, authentic old Victorian. The worn mattress, flat pillows, tiny old bathroom, and doors with very little insulation are part of that old-house experience too. It was rough around the edges, but charming and authentic.

It’s dated and dingy, and wildly overpriced. The bathroom shower was moldy, the head barely worked and sprayed everywhere, and one of the bathroom lights was out. The antique charm stops being charming when it extends to the fixtures, mattress, and pillows. The bed felt like squeaky plywood, and the pillows were flat and hard. Stay somewhere else.

A quaint inn with helpful, accommodating staff and an easy check-in. There’s parking on site, and the rooms have private bathrooms and fridges. The shared area has coffee and a kitchen space. I’d recommend it and stay again.
