Comfort Inn & Suites Camden

The hot breakfast was good, with plenty of seating. The hotel itself felt below average, though it’s being remodeled and may be nicer later. Our smoke detector was missing, the hair dryer was broken and they had no replacement, and the towel shelf was partly broken and coming off the wall. The water fountain was shut off too.

The room was clean and we didn’t see bugs. There was loud construction in the main lobby, which made it hard to talk to the front desk, but I understood that. Still, I’d tell people to stay somewhere else and save the extra charge. Check your bank after every payment and keep receipts. My husband and I checked in at 3 a.m., not 3 p.m., and had been there less than nine hours when the laundry woman knocked hard, first sounding like she used her fist, then her keys a few minutes later. Just after 9 a.m. she opened the door and tried to come in while we were asleep. Checkout was 11, so I don’t understand why she came by three times with more than two hours left. After we left before 10, my banking app showed two charges for different amounts. Choice Rewards and my bank couldn’t see the second charge, but my bank and I could. When I showed the manager proof in the app, she said they had only charged once and didn’t seem willing to listen. I proved otherwise. Whenever I stay at a Choice Rewards property, mostly Comfort Inns, I end up calling customer service about some issue.

The outside looks promising, but don’t be fooled. Inside, the bathroom sink ran loudly without stopping, the toilet paper holder had fallen onto the floor, and a large hole in the wall exposed what looked like a roach nest. The towel rack was filthy, and live roaches were scattered through both the bathroom and sleeping area. The curtains also wouldn’t close all the way, leaving a gap for people passing by to look in.

The employees were so kind and made me feel welcome during my two weeks here. They cleaned my room every day, and I really appreciated that. The hotel has been remodeled and looks beautiful. I like it so much that this is where I’ll stay whenever I come to town. Great work making the place look good, and thanks to the friendly staff.
