Larkspur Landing Extended Stay Suites Campbell

I cancelled my reservation and eventually got a refund, though it took some effort. The place felt run down, like it might once have been decent but no longer worth even a bargain rate. I’d booked one night and arrived around 2 p.m., but there were no clean rooms yet, so I left my bags and went to meetings and dinner. When I came back, I saw a notice saying the restaurant had been closed by the health department, which left me wondering about breakfast. Then I was told parking would cost $12 per night, despite the online booking saying self parking was free. The Wi-Fi also wasn’t available. When I showed my booking and asked about it, they said I’d have to speak to the manager in the morning, but still had to pay all the fees then.

I was told my receipt would be emailed when I checked out, but it never came. When I called on the 6th, GM Alfonso Chavez said he’d send it. He asked about the stay, apologized after saying he’d seen a review, and offered a one-night refund. I hadn’t asked for one, but thanked him for listening and for offering compensation. He said he’d process it and send an updated invoice. I asked if he needed my card details, and he said no. I emailed again last Tuesday, the 23rd, and as of today there’s been no reply or refund. We booked two nights, October 3rd and 4th, with breakfast included. The first night we arrived late and had to change rooms because the carpet was wet and sticky. The replacement was better, though the tub and tiles in the bathroom needed updating. At 3:30 am, noise from the people above us dropping things and walking heavily woke us for over an hour. I don’t blame the hotel for that. The next morning, when I called to ask when breakfast was served, I found out the kitchen was being remodeled and there would be no breakfast. I wish we’d known before arriving. I’ve stayed at several Larkspur landing locations and never had rooms or service at this level. It’s sad. I wouldn’t refer anyone to this location, and I don’t know why he offered a refund if it wasn’t going to happen. I’d only called for my receipt.

The Campbell location is a horrible mess and should be shut down as soon as possible. There’s no control, and the food license was revoked six months ago. You have to ask for everything. I prepaid for 11 days and wish I hadn’t. To be clear, some Larkspur locations are great, and not all of them are bad.

It wasn’t a bad stay, but I don’t think it was worth more than $100 a night. The rooms feel old, and the building has that stale old-house smell. It probably was nice around 20 years ago.
