The three-course breakfasts were a real highlight, and Nate was such a warm, welcoming host as well as a talented chef. We loved our sweet room, Ivy Solace, with all its thoughtful details. The Sutherland House made for a lovely February getaway, and it was nice meeting the other couples staying that weekend. We’d happily come back to Canandaigua.

The breakfast was so good, and everyone on staff was friendly and wonderful. We stayed in the rose room, which had everything we needed, plus a little box of essentials in case you’d forgotten to pack something. I’d definitely stay here again when I’m in the Finger Lakes.

We brought snacks out to the patio and had a really nice happy hour there. There are a few places around the grounds to sit with coffee or wine and enjoy the scenery. It’s a lovely spot for a couple’s escape, and there are so many wineries nearby in the Finger Lakes.

Breakfast was delicious, and my husband and I enjoyed chatting with the other guests each morning. The Victorian-style house and lovely grounds gave me a real countryside feeling, even though Canandaigua Lake and all its activities are just a short distance away. Rt. 21 is right there, which made getting around for sightseeing easy, but we could hear some road noise at night from our suite. I also would have liked a magnifying mirror in the bathroom to help me put on makeup. Still, we had a wonderful stay.

We were pleasantly surprised by how much we liked our accommodations, and breakfast was both delicious and generous. The house and grounds are beautiful, and the location worked perfectly for everything we had planned. I’ve been telling family and friends to check out the Sutherland House. Thanks for such a memorable stay!
