We were moved to a smaller cabin just a week before arrival after originally booking a much bigger one. The host said we could either accept the smaller cabin or cancel, and with so little time to find something else, we had to take it. After checkout, the host tried to charge us through Airbnb for supposedly leaving the cabin dirty, despite having approved how we handled the trash and dishes in person. No check-in or checkout instructions had been provided. On our last night, the pizza boxes didn’t fit in the trash bags, so we stacked them neatly on the stove and asked the host, who was on the property, what to do. He said that was fine and that we didn’t need to wash the dishes. We left used towels on the bathroom floor because there were no instructions about them, but he later called that an “excessive mess.” He also claimed our dogs chewed or damaged things and that we damaged the inside of a chest. Those claims are false: nothing belonging to the host was damaged, we never opened the chest, and he provided no evidence. The only thing we threw away was our own already-torn dog bed, which we put in a trash bag. This felt unfair and retaliatory after we’d spoken with him and followed his guidance. We take care of rentals, so it was upsetting to be accused of things that didn’t happen. He lied about everything and isn’t an honest man. I would NOT recommend staying there.

We spent four nights at Speckled Trout Cabin with four adults, and it was a lovely place to unwind. There are two bedrooms and a main bathroom downstairs, plus a bedroom and bathroom in the loft where my husband and I stayed. The window AC unit was nice, and we liked the decor inside and out. The cabin sits near the end of the property, right by the creek, and was very quiet. We sat on the porch morning and evening and saw lots of wildlife: fish in the creek, deer and a black bear on the mountainside, two mallards swimming there every day, and, for the first time in our lives, a groundhog. We paid for catch-and-release fishing on the property, and catching trout for the first time was a great learning experience. We also booked a guided tour with Scott. My father caught the biggest trout, which the owner named Hollywood. We explored nearby towns during our mid-April 2026 stay. My husband loved it so much that he’s coming back in June to stay and fish with Scott again. I’d happily choose this cabin or another one next time. I wish I could share more photos, but goggle only allows five. Book it, you won’t regret it. You’ll have a great vacation.

The check-in and checkout were super easy. Everything was ready in a pouch, so we just grabbed it and went to enjoy our stay. We spent a long weekend in a yurt, and it was quiet and cozy, just right for a mountain getaway. I’d wondered how the private bathroom in the bath house would work, but it was great. We got keys and flashlights, and the yurt had a welcome sign and everything we needed for s’mores. There are lots of options, including RVs, tiny homes, cabins, and yurts, plus a play area that’s great for kids. Amazing, keep doing what you’re doing!

I’d hoped to give MSC another chance after the water outage during our Labor Day Weekend stay. The owner gave us a code for a free future night, but it now seems deactivated after I left my Airbnb review. I stand by my 3-star rating, and after the owner’s condescending response, we won’t return. The response also included false claims, including that we’d called the property beautiful and gorgeous, which we never said. Thom’s place worked for a quick mountain getaway. The cabin was dated, so it may not suit someone looking for “modern luxuries,” but the views and serenity made up for its appearance. When the water stopped working, Thom stayed responsive while they worked quickly to fix it. They also invited all the guests to a hot dog cookout at the pavillion as a thank you, which was very nice. The Wifi kept going in and out all weekend and could use an upgrade. If you want to disconnect for a while, it’s a good fit. In the owners’ response, they said they were surprised and claimed Drew and his quests had called the cabin and property perfect and gorgeous, and hadn’t mentioned dirt or dust. They described a five step cleaning process, said most reviews call the cabins “squeaky” clean, apologized for possibly missing something dirty, and said they usually resolve issues immediately. They said reporting the water pressure to Airbnb would be appropriate, then suggested Drew and his crew find somewhere better suited to their needs. The response also mentioned authentic mountain cabins, gorgeous views, heirloom antiques, and 30 five-star reviews, including compliments about cleanliness, and concluded that they aren’t for everyone.

We’ve really enjoyed our RV stay at Mountain Springs. The owners are nice, earnest people, and we highly recommend the place. It’s peaceful and beautiful, with a stream and room to walk our dogs around the property each day. I especially love opening a window and hearing the creek right there. It’s far enough from the city to relax in the quiet, but still close enough to drive in every day.
