Surfsand Resort

The oceanfront room was beautiful, updated, quiet, and comfortable, and everything felt clean and well maintained. The location is wonderful, right on the water, with gorgeous views and a peaceful feel. Staff were friendly and quick to help, and parking was plentiful. We also liked the cozy pool area, and the pool was very warm even in winter. A couple of small issues: the sauna wouldn’t heat above 140°F, and the bathroom was a bit cold during winter. Still, we had a fantastic stay at Surfsand Resort in Cannon Beach and would definitely return.

The beach s’mores were lovely, though my husband ended up fixing the shaky fire setup. Lobby cookies and ice cream were another highlight, especially those incredible cookies. We didn’t have time to try the pool or gym. It’s a very dog-friendly place and the location is unbeatable, but it can be loud. I’d stay again, though only on the third floor. We booked this hotel for the first two nights of our Oregon coast road trip. Cannon Beach has limited places to stay, and this one stood out for the beach location and views of Haystack Rock. The website promised thoughtful features, and most of them were there. I do wish we’d booked a third-floor room. Check-in was easy, and the staff were kind and accommodating. The room was a good size for two, with practical concrete floors for rainy weather, a color-setting electric fireplace, a Bluetooth speaker with ambient lighting, a very comfortable bed, a big bathroom with a TV, and handy storage with jacket hooks and drawers under the bed. The fridge and coffee machine were nice too. Our first-floor room had noise from upstairs, plus a dog left alone barking for long stretches. The front desk was fully booked but did their best to help, and offered us a breakfast voucher at Wayfarer, which we appreciated. The cleaning could have been better. We found dust and a hair tie left by a previous guest.

The only letdown was that the pool was closed during our stay. Otherwise, the room was clean and really spacious, and it was nice having both a bathtub and a shower. The beach is just a minute away, and you can smell the fresh ocean air from the room.

The fireplace made the room feel extra cozy, and we both felt relaxed. Even with the rainy, chilly weather, we enjoyed walking the beach and looking at Haystack Rock. The room was modern, clean, comfortable, and stocked with the dishes and other things I needed. The bathroom was large and even had a TV. I was traveling with my pup for one night, and the front desk guy was so kind and patient at check-in. I asked for a first-floor room because of my dog and they switched me quickly. They also gave me a late checkout, so I could take the morning slowly. Great stay, highly recommend!
