Quality Inn & Suites Canton, GA

The room itself was fine, though I didn’t like the connecting door to another room. As a woman traveling alone, that could have ended badly. The hotel wasn’t terrible, but it wasn’t great either, and I hope they put the rates they charge toward upgrades. I was there for work during an ice freeze, and we had to stay within 5-7mi of our hospital. I picked this hotel because it was closest. I booked Saturday to Sunday, then needed to extend to Monday morning. Piya, I believe that was her name, was really sweet and fixed my refrigerator problem in a few minutes. Amy was a sweetheart too. But Laura or Lauren said the computers were down and she couldn’t extend the stay, and would contact me when they were working. I went to work worried because my belongings were still in the room and I was sure I’d be extending. I heard nothing, so I called. She seemed to have forgotten to contact me, said the system was still down, and told me to call Booking.com. She was about to clock out and said she’d tell the person taking over. Booking.com called the hotel anyway, as I’d initially done, and Laura or Lauren told their representative the system was still down. Even he seemed confused. Around 10:30am, Quality Inn called to say housekeeping was about to clean my room, though the record showed my things were still there. I explained everything again to Laura or Lauren’s relief, who got the extension booked in under 15 minutes. So I wonder how badly the system was really down, or whether Lauren just wanted to go home instead of booking the room. I didn’t like how it was handled. There was also a duplicate charge on my account: $137.76 for the room, twice. I was told it was a holding fee, but also that the hold was only $100. I do think the terminal charged me twice, since I highly doubt they did it intentionally, so I’ll give them some grace because their Wi-Fi isn’t great. Still, watch your cards. I hope I get that money back.

This older hotel has a few maintenance problems. A restroom by the breakfast area had a huge leak that flooded the area and the ground-floor hallway. My room smelled, but a quick Walmart run for Febreze spray sorted that out. Breakfast wasn’t bad, with scrambled eggs, sausage patties, small biscuits, and waffles.

We got to the hotel very late, checked into our rooms, and found a whole mess of cockroaches, not just one or two. There were bugs in both our room and my grandson’s, and our microwave was full of mold. We left at 1 AM and found somewhere else to stay. This was the worst Quality Inn experience, and I wouldn’t recommend the hotel at all.

After driving five hours, it was really convenient to have a Walmart right next door, so we didn’t have to go far for a store. The hotel’s also easy to reach, with lots of restaurants within ten minutes.
