Days Inn by Wyndham Cape Carteret near Emerald Isle

We had a nice stay and would come back. It was mostly quiet, the room and pool were clean, and the beds had been remade while we were out. Some people had unfortunately left trash by the pool. The front desk staff were super sweet. The beach is about a 10 minute drive, and some other places we wanted to go were a bit farther away.

Breakfast was basic, just toast, muffins, and cereal, but this was a good place to crash while we visited family. We stayed two nights, the beds were super comfy, and checking in at midnight was easy.

The service was great, though the room needed a better cleaning. There was hair in the bathtub that wasn't mine. The motel has been upgraded, but some repairs are still needed, including the seal around the door. The rooms could also use some air freshener.

Lori at the front desk was extremely nice and helpful, but the room was a mess. Filth had built up in every crack and corner, and housekeeping clearly hadn't cleaned well. There was a strong moldy or mildewy smell as soon as we walked in, and spraying the room several times didn't make it go away. I think it may have been coming from the AC. Then my daughter started yelling in the shower because a giant cockroach was crawling on the tub. Please clean the rooms thoroughly and get pest control in. They look decent at first, but that doesn't make up for the smell and dirt.
