Holiday Inn Express & Suites Staunton by IHG

Kelley made a great first impression when she checked us in, friendly and easy to talk to. My wife and I stayed two nights and were happy with every part of the visit. Breakfast was good, though gravy would make it even better for us southern folks. We had a great experience and would recommend the hotel.

After six hours on the road in heavy traffic, that shower felt amazing, and the mattress was like sleeping on a cloud. I need the mattress company’s name because I want one for home! Service was excellent, and breakfast came out hot and fresh with plenty to pick from. The location also makes getting on and off the major roadway easy.

We usually choose an IHG hotel, often Holiday Inn Express, and this stay was another good one. The staff were friendly at both check-in and checkout, and our clean room had a comfortable bed. I wasn’t sure about the turkey sausage, but it was delicious, and the hard-boiled eggs were tasty too.

We stop here when traveling, but after being charged $5 to park, we won’t be back. No one mentioned the fee when we booked, and there was no explanation for it at check-in. At first I honestly thought it was a joke. This is a corporate hotel by the highway in the middle of nowhere Virginia, with a wide-open lot and room for what looks like the population of the next town and a few friends. It isn’t a busy city hotel with scarce parking, and it isn’t a small-town bed and breakfast. I know everyone has to make a living, but this felt like being ripped off over every dollar. Part of me feels better warning people who might book, and part of me wishes I’d picked up my things and driven five minutes down the road to somewhere that doesn’t pinch every dollar from customers. I’ve never been this irate over $5.
