The Tiny Homes are right near everything Cape Charles has to offer, and we wished we could’ve stayed longer than one night. Each home has its own style, with thoughtful, interesting details that show how much care went into the design. They’re adorable and well laid out. Outside, there are grills, tables and comfy chairs for eating when the weather’s nice, plus a fire pit. Everything is well set up indoors and out. Recommend!

We stayed in The Barn House for our first wedding anniversary, and it felt just right for the occasion, cozy, quaint and beautifully decorated. The little touches made it feel special and romantic. In the evening we sat by the fire pit and enjoyed the peaceful setting together. Cape Charles Tiny Livin’ was a lovely place for a relaxing weekend, and we can’t wait to return.

The cleanliness really let our stay down. There was other people’s hair on the sheets and towels, stains in several places, and a red ring of something on a shower shelf. Some surfaces, including the cups, were dusty, and the sponge by the sink wasn’t new. There was no hand soap in the bathroom, and batteries were sticking out of the smoke detector. The suitcase stand was broken, and the local pamphlets were out of date. The floors fit the rustic look, but little splinters kept poking through my two pairs of socks. A rug by the bed would’ve helped. There were no nightstands for my phone and glasses. I saw small tables in the website photos, but they’d been moved and were holding decorations. I might’ve used them, but they were dusty and I didn’t want to disturb the decor. The shampoo bottle was labeled, while the other bottle wasn’t, so I couldn’t tell if it was conditioner or soap. There were two irons, though. We also left a note about the birthday we were celebrating and got no acknowledgment. The hosts were slow to respond, too. They texted soon after we arrived and said to get in touch if we needed anything. On our last morning, we had no hot water, so I texted them. Four hours later, the only reply was a message asking us to rate our stay. I answered with a 2 and heard nothing back. Not sure why they use a text service. There were some things I liked. Booking was very easy, and I appreciated being able to add extra information. The outdoor area was cute, with chairs around the fire, corn hole and darts. The Barn was much roomier than I expected for a tiny house, and the windows brought in lots of natural light. I was already imagining coming back in warmer weather. But we liked Cape Charles more than the stay, and next time we’ll book somewhere else.

The Red House had a distinct, lovely personality, and the outdoor amenities and accommodations felt more personal than what you usually get at a hotel. The hosts, Mr. and Mrs. Hawkins, were warm and made me feel like family. This was my first stay at Cape Charles Tiny Livin', and I was tremendously pleased. I plan to add it to future trips to the Eastern Shore.

We came in January, and the heater didn’t quite reach all of the bungalow, so I’ll pack slippers and a throw for a winter visit next time. It’s a great location and just right for two people. I’ll definitely come back.
