Town House Inn Cape Giradreau

It was clean and the price was low, but the place felt run down. We had to switch rooms because the TV didn’t work.

For $75 on the way home, I’d stay again if I’m passing through. I’d paid $80 going the other direction, and I still liked the price. The bathroom was clean, and there were no bed bugs, which matters most to me. The room had an odor, so I used air freshener. The room itself looked clean at first, but sliding the mattress back showed hair and bits that hadn’t been cleaned, and I could see that the space behind the bed was missed too. It’s not bad as a place to sleep.

There’s a large parking lot, which is handy if you have a camper or trailer. I slept well on the comfortable bed, and the shower had hot water and strong pressure. The rest of the place could use a lot of improvement, though. For one night during a trip, the price was okay.

On Jan 10, 2025, bringFido refunded half our money. Thank you. We’re still out the rest of it, though, nearly three months after our stay, despite many calls to the Townhouse Inn in Cape Girardeau and bringFido. We booked for two nights, Oct 18 -20, 2024, through bringFido/bookings.com, and I wouldn’t do that again. They use a third-party booking company we couldn’t contact directly, and bringFido/bookings.com didn’t help us get our money back when things went wrong. The front desk gentleman was nice and efficient when we arrived. We went to room 112, and it felt unhealthy and unsafe. The shower had black mold, the bathroom fan sounded like a helicopter, there were holes in the wall and door jamb, and mouse traps were outside. I took pictures and showed them to the man at check-in, who seemed surprised. Mike moved us to room 110, but that was just as disgusting, with a filthy textured tub rim, mold on the ceiling, and holes in the walls. Thankfully, a nearby Airbnb had a last-minute cancellation. We managed to book it within 20 minutes of moving our luggage into room 110, then I went to the front desk and said, “we can’t stay here!” Mike, the manager, promptly refunded the $50 pet fee, which was separate from the room charge, and said he’d refund the full $149.19. The full refund still hasn’t come. Apparently Mike needs to email bringFido/bookings.com to release the money; they say he’s avoiding their calls and not replying to emails. When I call now, he seems to be out of the office. The place looks like a cool retro motor lodge, but rooms 112 and 110 were very dirty and had black mold. The rooms aren’t safe.
