The watchtower was cool, and the bed was comfortable. We still made memories, but I'm not sure I'd recommend the place or stay again. There's often no one at the front desk, so you have to call someone. The tub had no stopper, the small coffee pot smelled moldy, and it would be nice to have coffee in the hotel office. The pool wasn't open yet, and we couldn't get the beach foot-wash hose to work. Keep in mind there's still a lot of damage in the area from Hurricane Erin, and the lighthouse is closed for restoration.

We only needed somewhere to shower and sleep for two nights, and this last-minute booking did the job. It was the only room available between Hatteras and Avon, and also the cheapest, so I wasn't expecting much. The beds were comfortable, check-in was easy, there was cable TV, and the location was convenient. But the room stayed very humid even with a dehumidifier that filled up every 30 minutes. The carpet felt wet, which seems like a mold risk. The bathroom wall behind the toilet was cracked, as if the upstairs bathroom had leaked or used to leak, and there was mildew on the walls. The drawers smelled really funky and had stains. I probably wouldn't stay again.

The room was nice for the price, with great rates and a very comfortable bed. It's a wonderful place in a great location, and the staff were really friendly. We'd recommend staying here.

The observation tower was really cool, and check-in was easy. It's a nice, clean little local hotel right at the edge of town. I don't need any photos.

The customer service was great, but the room was musty, and the AC couldn't really keep it cool. There was a dehumidifier in the room, too. That wasn't much to show for over $200 a night.
