Avondale by the Sea Motel

The beach is right across the street, and the upper two floors have ocean views. You can walk to the main shopping and dining area, and the balcony is a nice extra. Parking was ample during the off season, though I imagine it could be an issue in high season. This is a simple, basic shore motel, and the rooms were clean. There’s no in-room microwave, but you can use one in a common area, and there’s no coffee maker in the room either. Breakfast was skimpy at best: cereal, donuts, and bananas.

The staff were very friendly, and the location made it easy to get to the beach, shopping, and food. Our room was great, and the bed was extremely comfortable. It felt like a home away from home.

The staff were kind, the beds were comfortable, and the accommodations were spotless. We also enjoyed the gorgeous ocean views from the balconies, with their rocking chairs, and the hot coffee and pastries in the morning. It’s a cozy, family-owned seaside motel, not the Ritz. I took off a star because there was no coffee maker in the room, it smelled too strongly of harsh cleaning chemicals, and the beds had ugly brown blankets. Red comforters were in the closet. Those things weren’t deal breakers, though. I’ll recommend the place and would return!

The front desk staff were so kind, helpful, accommodating, and just pleasant to deal with. Our room was spotless, too. We’ve visited Cape May several times, and I’m glad we found the Avondale. This was our first stay, but it won’t be our last. Can’t wait to come back!
