The Beach Club on Madison Avenue

There’s plenty to do within walking distance, and Kirsten was great about answering our questions and offering suggestions. My husband and I stayed for our first anniversary and were really impressed. The room was beautiful and spotless, with excellent amenities. Kirsten is a real asset to the staff. We’ll tell others about our stay and plan to come back soon.

The hot tub never felt hot, staying at 98°F, which wasn’t relaxing after the beach. I also had a maintenance issue in my room that disrupted my sleep for four nights. I had to follow up repeatedly, and at one point they said it was “resolved” when it wasn’t. I did appreciate getting a $300 refund after talking with management about my six-night stay, but with all the issues, the value still didn’t match the price or my expectations. The Beach Club in Cape May has a modern look, comfortable beds, a handy kitchenette, and access to La Mer’s adults-only beach setup. But the service had gaps. The front desk was staffed only from 11 AM to 7 PM, and that wasn’t mentioned in the pre-arrival information. Outside those hours, guests have to go to La Mer for help. Without a car, that was a serious hassle, and I nearly got stuck with my luggage after hours if family hadn’t warned me. There’s no closet or even hooks for hanging clothes, which surprised me in a beach town where people dress for dinner. Cleaning was usually okay but inconsistent. Some days dirty dishes were left behind, and my towel and sponge were taken without replacements. If you stay, ask questions ahead of time and bring a clothes rack. I wouldn’t count on the hot tub.

The studio with a king bed looked clean and updated, and it’s one of the better hotels around Cape May. The bathroom is spacious, though the shower pressure is weak and there’s no vent. Parking in front of the room is tight, but the hotel has extra spaces in back once those fill up.

The pool was gorgeous and big enough for laps, and the jacuzzi was clean and inviting. I loved this adults-only place. The rooms were lovely and clean, and the staff were friendly and helpful.
