The Star Inn

We had a quiet weekend at the inn in early May, during the off-season, and I’d absolutely return. The kitchenette and little living area worked perfectly, and the toiletries they provide were lovely. Housekeeping was attentive. It’s a clean, charming inn in a central location, close to all that Cape May has to offer. We stayed in the inn section, not at Congress Hall.

I liked grabbing coffee from Out There and sitting on the front porch to watch the street activity. The main building’s rooms are small, but the staff are great. The location is hard to beat, with good coffee shops and restaurants within walking distance, Congress Hall right across the street, and the beach less than a block away.

Their care really stood out after we’d checked out and were already on the ferry. They let us know right away that we’d left medication in the fridge, kept it cool, and FedEx’d it to our next stop. Prompt, thoughtful service like that says a lot about their customer care. We stayed this December (2024), and loved our room: comfortable bed, well-equipped kitchen, and a great bathroom, which can be a concern at smaller places. Thank you Star Inn!!!!

Barbara made our family’s stay feel warm, personal, and luxurious, taking care of every little problem right away. She stored my breast milk when we arrived and personally checked the room. I’ve never stayed somewhere more accommodating and family friendly. We did wish the kitchen had a few more basics for the price, like a spatula, salt and pepper, and cooking oil, but the experience was stellar. The service even seemed better than what my brother and his fiancé got at the pricier Congress Hall. There was a great book selection, and Barbara let me keep a new hardcover bestseller, which is basically my love language. The Star lived up to its name, and we had a phenomenal family vacation. We’ll definitely be back. Bring the cranberry gf muffin back to the cafe, and I swear I won’t look at another hotel in cape may again!
